I used 1 tablespoon of pepper, but start with less if youre not a fan of heat and adjust it to your taste you can always add more!
If the onions are taking a while to soften, add a little splash of water and cook until it has evaporated. This helps soften the onions without them catching.
For a vegetarian version, swap the meatballs for vegetarian meatballs and use vegetable stock.
For a dairy-free version, use dairy-free cream, butter and grated cheese.
Swap the four-cheese blend for your favourite cheese, or leave it out for plain creamy mash.
